Sealants are generally used as a protective covering to protect surfaces from harsh conditions. If this covering is not applied, the concrete surfaces can be exposed to corrosion, wear and tear. Some of the materials that can cause corrosion are chemicals, other toxic liquids, and even water. These liquids are usually absorbed through small pores that are usually on these surfaces and the sealant is used to block the pores preventing seepage. It is important that the sealing is done efficiently so as to function effectively. Therefore the quality of concrete sealer sprayers should be superior.

Research conducted as well as information from cement manufacturers, dealers and companies indicate that when these surfaces get exposed to wet, freeze and thawing objects and conditions cause a rapid deprivation of the surfaces abilities. These surfaces are also affected greatly by alkali-silica and intrusion chemicals reactions as well as corrosions from steel reinforcements. The sealants are readily found in the market and are of different varieties.

In the past years, contractors used linseed oils and wax to provide protection for the surfaces. However, due to increased innovations, inventions, and technological advancement, powerful materials have been developed that provide protection for the slabs. One of the materials used is tropical sealants. When applied, they need the surface to be dry and clean so that proper adhesion can be attained.

The other type use is the penetrating sealer which offers not only protection but strength and durability as well. It provides a good barrier in moist and dry places that provides a barrier for the concrete that shields against chemicals without changing appearance. It should be matched with the surface's porosity so as to allow the reaction to effectively take place to form a blocking film.

There are different elements and compounds that are used to make these sealants. They include acrylic resins which form films on the surface of the substrate. They are also found in both solvent and water-based formulas. Urethane systems that have similar characteristics as those of acrylic. Another element is Silane a smaller particle and effective in making penetrating sealers. Silicates is another element with a small molecular characteristic.

Silane is another compound used in the manufacture of these sealing materials. They have small particles characteristics and are ideal when penetrating sealants are required. Another element used in manufacture include silicates which have the same small particle characteristic. Materials with medium size particle characteristic include Siliconates. These compounds are water repellent, oleophobic and hydrophobic. These characteristics make these materials to wear once the substrate has is completely worn out.

All these protective cannot be applied without a sprayer or application device. There are various techniques that you can use to make sure that the application has been successful and that you have not destroyed your application equipment. First, choose the correct type of equipment or device to use, then read the instructions on the equipment. After you have read the instructions, choose the correct protective material to use.

Choose the right sealing material that adheres to the instructions on the pump. If the device requires either solvent or water-based sealing material, use the recommended material. Proper cleaning, storage, lubricating and maintenance is important so that the functionality of the device is maintained.
