Why The Right Public Restroom Supplies Are Important

By Carolyn Parker

When you think about public restrooms, you do not think that the set of bathrooms in your lobby are considered one. These are used by visitors before they come and see you and can be considered public for that reason. They should be a welcoming place for these visitors and kept clean. They should also be stocked with the right public restroom supplies.

Looking at all of the various types of supplies needed, in any restroom, is an interesting discussion. The number and types that go into a public setting are equally as illustrative. This is because, whether the rooms are located in your building or set out in a park if you are in charge of public works spaces, You will not always have the most expensive materials supplied.

Basic supplies will begin with toilet paper. This is a necessary item to have in any bathroom. This paper roll can be concealed in a closed and locked dispenser or hanging on a pole attached to a retaining bracket. You will be faced with various brand and also different thicknesses. In some restrooms, you may find two or even three plies. In public rooms, it may only need to be two or even one ply.

Paper towels, or at least the ability to dry hands, must also be provided. They can be virgin material or recycled. They come in colors anywhere from a brown, which are usually the recycled brands, to off white and bright white. They should be as absorbent as budgets allow. Most people like to use a lot of towels so there will be a lot used.

It is interesting to note that, in many restrooms, the staff or owners have eliminated paper towels in favor of blow dryers. These come in many colors of cases, anywhere from brown, white and other colors to chrome. These have been shown to be more sanitary than paper towels, so this can be a better alternative to an expensive paper that is often scattered around the floor.

The need for soap, by everyone who uses these rooms, is very real. It should not be the most expensive, however, it should have a nice fragrance. Many people have allergies and, because of that, a nice antibacterial, hypoallergenic soap is a nice touch. This soap will go a long way if you have a conversation with the cleaning crew about the right dispenser and soap combination.

The vast majority of people using public facilities use seat covers. There are, just like other supplies you will be ordering and stocking, many different brands. There are also different ways they are folded when you get them. The dispensers should be hung in each toilet stall. The type of fold should not be an issue as they are all designed to fit on all standard toilet seat rims.

All of the many items that are needed in these restrooms are available at just about any janitorial supply store. These shops are located in almost all city around the country. Always order enough materials so the custodial crew will have available during their scheduled cleaning sessions, which should be at least every evening.
